Hazardous Materials Business Plans/Emergency Response Plans
NES has extensive experience preparing HMBP's and Emergency Response plans, as well as Consolidated Contingency plans that are required for Large Quantity Generators of hazardous waste. In preparing these documents NES works closely with the client and their CUPA to determine proper hazardous materials classification, categorization, storage volumes, and report formatting that helps to streamline the process. NES conducts site visits and interviews with client representatives to determine which of up to six California and federal emergency planning requirements apply to the facility, then decides which forms and plan formats are most appropriate. Following plan preparation, NES also offers employee training on elements contained in the plans.
Oil Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans
NES has prepared and revised numerous SPCC Plans at various commercial and industrial facilities to meet the requirements under 40 CFR Part 112 of the Environmental Protection Agency's regulations on oil pollution prevention and control and the above ground storage tank regulations under California Code of Regulations CCR 25270 administered by the California State Water Resources Control Board.
NES provides a wide range of compliance management services to several clients based on their individual needs. Many clients, both with and without formal environmental managers, contract NES to perform an initial assessment of their overall environmental records, procedures, and management system. Following this initial assessment, NES is often retained on an as-needed or regularly scheduled basis to provide guidance or hands on assistance to bring a facility up to compliance with applicable regulations and issues identified as needing improvement. Often, these services include preparing or reviewing permit applications, reports, and plans, classifying or re-classifying waste streams, and writing site-specific procedures for environmental compliance. EH&S training needs are identified and training performed for all pertinent employees from workers handling hazardous materials and wastes to supervisors and environmental managers.
Storm Water Consulting
NES' staff have extensive knowledge of storm water regulations and have provided consulting services to a wide range of clients including determining whether a facility is required to comply with NPDES storm water regulations, preparing storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP) and annual storm water reports, performing third-party mock storm water compliance inspections, and providing guidance and training on permit requirements, storm water monitoring and sampling.
