About Brian Escamilla
Brian Escamilla is Clan Lab Program Manager and a Principal Instructor with NES, Inc. His primary responsibilities at the company are developing, scheduling, and updating all Clan Lab courses and field guides. He also trains instructors and ensures they are provided with the most current information. Brian has been an instructor with NES since 2002 and has trained thousands of personnel across the United States and internationally in various narcotics related classes.
Mr. Escamilla has researched and manufactured methamphetamine, PCP, MDMA, methcathinone, fentanyl, euphoria, and various other drugs in a controlled laboratory setting. As a court qualified Expert Witness, Escamilla has testified in both the State and Federal court systems. He has a well-respected reputation for providing testimony in the areas of crime scene investigation, controlled substances, blood alcohol, and clandestine laboratories. His knowledge and opinions are sought after by such eminent disseminators of information as Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and CBC News. He has published over 35 papers, conducted over 80 workshops, and given over 25 conference presentations related to narcotics and clandestine laboratories at conferences all over the United States.
Mr. Escamilla is a retired Criminalist with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Laboratory of Forensic Services. While serving as Lead Criminalist with Sacramento County in the Controlled Substances section, Mr. Escamilla responded to and analyzed the evidence for over 200 clandestine laboratory scenes. During his 19 years of service with Sacramento County, Mr. Escamilla also served as Laboratory Safety Officer, managing all hazardous waste handling, storage, health, and safety programs and associated training, in addition to ensuring the laboratory complied with OSHA regulations.
