For the first time in the event’s 23-year history, this year’s California CUPA Conference will be held entirely virtually.

NES Returns to the 2021 Cal CUPA Conference – Virtually

NES is honored to once again be a part of the 2021 Annual Cal CUPA Conference. This will be the 23rd anniversary of the event, and the theme this year is “Unified in Shaping Tomorrow.”

Like many of the past year’s events, this conference will be held virtually due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. As it became clear that the pandemic would not subside any time soon, the decision to change the format from the usual in-person conference, originally to be held in Anaheim, CA, was made in May of 2020 by the California CUPA Forum. The Forum announced that the 23rd Annual Cal CUPA Conference would be held entirely virtually, from February 2 to March 18, 2021.

As a nationally recognized environmental, health & safety leader, NES continues to cultivate a productive relationship with the California CUPA Forum and has been invited to deliver presentations and convey valuable, insightful industry experience at the annual California CUPA Conference for over a decade. This year NES will present four sessions of Basics of Hazardous Waste Training for Industry over the seven weeks comprising this year’s virtual California CUPA Conference.

Scroll down for a schedule of our 2021 Cal CUPA Conference programs and to view past conference training videos featuring Jerry Bucklin and Steve Reichow.

The virtual conference will allow participants to attend sessions, meet & greets, and trainings from the comfort and safety of their own homes or workplaces.

NES & CUPA Services: An Enduring Relationship

NES has been invited to deliver training programs and sit as panelists at the annual Cal CUPA Conference each year for over a decade. This extended relationship stems from NES’ long history of providing high-quality environmental, health & safety training on behalf of California CUPAs. Some of our popular CUPA training programs include:

  • SPCC Plans for APSA Sites
  • Universal Waste Management
  • Hazardous Materials Business Plans / CERS
  • DOT & Hazardous Waste Manifest
  • Basic Hazardous Waste Management
  • Advanced Hazardous Waste Management

We are contracted with select CUPAs throughout California to deliver training services to regulated businesses within their respective jurisdictions, and State (DTSC) and local (CUPA) inspectors routinely attend our open enrollment OSHA and hazardous waste management training programs.

Additionally, NES has crafted a series of informational pieces that detail the Unified Program – an ensemble of the six environmental programs that are overseen by CalEPA and implemented through Certified Unified Program Agencies (CUPAs). See the links below to each part of our CUPA blog series, as well as a link to last year’s 2020 Cal CUPA Conference blog piece.

2021 Cal CUPA Conference Panels

In keeping with previous years, NES will be presenting hazardous waste training during this year’s conference. Due to the virtual nature of the 2021 conference, these training sessions will be presented as live, instructor-led webinars.

NES has been increasingly providing live webinars as our clients’ needs changed during the pandemic. As a result, our instructors are confident in their abilities to provide the same high-quality training during this year’s conference while adhering to the State’s current health guidelines prohibiting large gatherings.

Those interested in attending this year’s training session can find out more by visiting the 2021 Cal CUPA Conference Free Industry Training Sessions webpage.
