4-Day Course

All personnel who are assigned to assess, process, or mitigate clan labs and other IHEs must comply with OSHA standards for general industry regarding hazardous waste operations and emergency response (HAZWOPER). This course meets the requirements set forth in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(6)(iii) technician level certification for first responders assigned to investigate and mitigate clandestine drug labs. The course includes hands-on practical exercises to provide students an understanding of the procedures and equipment involved with air monitoring, decontamination, and PPE as well as recommended actions for assessing, processing, and sampling clandestine drug labs.

Classes run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily with a break for lunch and additional short breaks at the instructor’s discretion. Casual attire is recommended.

Objective: Provide students with required OSHA HAZWOPER health & safety training so they can be compliant and prepared for encounters with clan labs and other illicit hazardous environments (IHEs)

Target Personnel: Law enforcement, fire, investigators, misc. first responders

Prerequisites: Clan Lab Investigations (recommended); Introduction to IHE Health & Safety (recommended); medically cleared to wear respiratory protection; clean-shaven if being fit tested
