Hazardous Narcotics in Custodial Facilities

3-Day Course

This course covers the dangers of highly toxic narcotics such as fentanyl, fentanyl analogs, and other potent synthetics that are currently being smuggled into correctional facilities. Students will gain a better understanding of the hazards associated with these narcotics, symptoms of exposure, use of naloxone, management of potentially contaminated sites, and decontamination of the area and personnel. This course also satisfies OSHA respiratory protection and fit testing requirements (29 CFR 1910.134) and provides training on PPE for those personnel who may be required to mitigate the site.

Objective: Provide personnel who work in a custodial facility with a working knowledge of the hazards of fentanyl, fentanyl analogs, and other hazardous narcotics as well as the techniques to contain and remediate a release of these substances in a custodial facility

Target Personnel: Personnel who work in a custodial setting (custodial officers/staff, law enforcement, etc.)
